Raj Summer - 09.09.2025

I bid the summer farewell
Watching leaves pile up on the street
In the shadow of a Union Jack
	Hanging from a rusty lamppost
I'm waiting for a bus
That'll take me away from this place
Where people know me all too well
I didn't want to live like scum
So they threw eggs at me
And called me a traitor to the nation
When I stood in their way
I couldn't simply watch
As they marched with flags
In their clenched fists
	Up to that refugee hotel
I look over my shoulder
Half expecting an angry yob
To come and hit me in the head
But all I see is the rising Sun
Balmy, warm, and pleasant
Shining above the empty street
	And the half-asleep council estate
A man jogs past me, squinting
Likely blinded by my shiny boots
Or just displeased by my presence
Like a red sock in a white laundry
Shrunken beyond all belief
	A skinhead just won't fit
